Hello – it’s Julie here from Natural Health.
Ah Yes, the weather is truly lovely but – Hayfever season is causing misery to so many people. With the warm sunshine comes the sniffles, snuffles & dribbles that are commonly known as Hay fever, so I have attached my Spring Podcast again as it has loads of great tips on all things to do with Spring health including:
- My No: 1 best, really favourite natural Zapper of Hay fever! - Flying things that bite, use this - it even beats those Scottish midges! - React badly to sun creams – try these instead. - Sun showing up the ahem...odd bit of grey hair – then you need this.
We have a great interview with Alex Kirchin from Viridian about why we are suffering more allergies and what to do about it.

HOMEOPATHY FOR HAYFEVER
Homeopathy can treat hayfever in different ways: 1. we can prescribe homeopathic remedies for the acute symptoms like itchy eyes and a runny nose 2. if you know which pollen you are allergic to, you can take that pollen in the homeopathic form 3. we do constitutional treatment, which means that we prescribe remedies based on more general symptoms of the patient. This treatment increases the person's level of welfare and so eases the symptoms of hayfever
You don't need to wait for the symptoms to start. It is best to start treatment before. Homeopathic remedies can considerably reduce hayfever symptoms and sometimes eliminate them completely. Often we are so lucky that the same remedy helps year after year.
A few examples of common homeopathic hayfever remedies. They all have the general symptoms of hayfever but with a different emphasis .
1. Allium Cepa. Symptoms as though you had been peeling onions. Watery eyes and profuse, acrid disharge from the nose
2. Euphrasia. Itchy, irritated, burning eyes wheras the discharge from the nose is bland
3. Pulsatilla. Itchy eyes, maybe with some disharge. Common cold symptoms with thick disharge from the nose. Hayfever may be better out of doors and worse in stuffy rooms. Not much thirst and the mood can be tearful and miserable
4. Arsenicum. Burning, irritating discharges from the nose and eyes. hayfever with asthmatic symptoms. usually thirsty and the mood can be fussy and anxious.
5. Nuv vomica. A lot of sneezing, especially in the morning. A runny or a blocked nose. The mood can be impatient and irritable. (Julie's note: also very good for hangovers!)
