Welcome to the February Newsletter, the mornings and evenings are finally getting lighter and occasionally spring feels a bit closer! SERRAPEPTASE – POTENT ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND CIRCULATION BOOSTER
We have a number of customers who absolutely swear by the benefits of Serrapeptase, although it is not as well known as other supplements, it is incredibly effective for a wide range of conditions.
This remarkable enzyme, known as the silkworm enzyme, is actually produced by a friendly bacterium found naturally within the silkworm. The enzyme was discovered in the early 1970’s and is now produced commercially through a fermentation process ensuring that the silkworm population is not affected.
Since its discovery over 30 years ago its benefits have been studied in many scientific studies and these combined with practitioners observations have given us a comprehensive list of areas it may help. In Germany and in other European countries, serrapeptase is commonly used for inflammatory and traumatic swellings and it is this part of the world where most of the research has been carried out. In one of these studies by the third day following surgery, the group that had been receiving the serrapeptase exhibited a 50 percent reduction of swelling, compared to the control group. The patients receiving serrapeptase also showed a more rapid reduction in pain than the control, so much so, that by the tenth day following surgery the pain had completely disappeared.
The benefits of serrapeptase are certainly wide ranging and this fact coupled with the fact that, unlike the harmful NSAIDs, serrapeptase exhibits no side-effects make it a logical choice in the fight against inflammatory and circulatory disorders. Many people find that an initial daily intake of 60,000iu three times daily to be beneficial. After a few weeks at these levels, levels may be adjusted depending on the individual to just one 60,000iu tablet a day to be effective. SoTRIM -- A SPICIER WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT

Omega 3, 6 and 9 in a 2:1:1 ratio is the recommendation made by many experts as the best ratio to promote optimal health. These provide Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which then has to be converted to EPA and DHA, a process that can be inefficient in some people. Blackcurrant seed oil is a rich source of stearidonic acid (SDA) which unlike ALA, converts easily to EPA. Adding a combination of these oils to your daily diet is a sure way to optimise your essential fatty acid intake.
