September Newsletter
Hello again!

Hope you are all back bright and breezy from your holidays ready to face the Autumn and longer nights. This month’s newsletter features some great offers from Solgar and Jason as well as details of how well a natural remedy can help prostate problems. We have a number of exciting things going on in the therapy centre, please see below for details.

Prostate problems can cause misery for women, too!

Thousands of women suffer because of a health problem that exclusively affects men, claims GP Dr Rob Hicks. Enlarged prostate can cause widespread disruption not just for men but to the lives of their partners.

“I am not just talking about the stress of knowing the person closest to you has a worrying condition,” he says, “though that is bad enough. There are women whose own health suffers because they never get a decent night’s sleep, since the problem causes bladder flow obstruction and their partner is up and down all night going to the loo. Their social life can be affected, too. Long car journeys can be a no-go for prostate victims because of the frequent need to find somewhere to stop and relieve themselves. Socialising can be embarrassing too”.

Dr Hicks advises women. “Don’t suffer in silence. Nag your man until he goes to the doctor and gets advice and treatment, which can be a simple matter of taking medicine.”

The fear factor: Many men with “dodgy waterworks” refuse to seek help.

Research by the Men’s Health Forum shows that:
43 per cent of men aged over 50 are too afraid to go to their doctor with a bladder problem
74 per cent are too embarrassed to tell their doctor about it
58 per cent have either not visited their GP at all in the previous 12 months or have done so only once or twice
19 per cent get up more than twice to pass water during the night
42 per cent don’t know where their prostate is.

There’s a herb that can help!

A.Vogel Prostasan Saw Palmetto Capsules have a Traditional Herbal Medicines licence for the relief of lower urinary tract symptoms in men with benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) or enlarged prostate. It’s the only licensed medicine available for BHP without a prescription in the UK so it’s available over the counter in pharmacies and health stores.

Saw Palmetto (Sabal serrulata) is a well-researched herb. It has been scientifically proved in numerous clinical trials to be as effective as any of the prescribed pharmaceutical preparations for the prostate. (Saw palmetto extracts for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. A systematic review Wilt TJ, Ishani A, Stark G, MacDonald R, Lau J, Mulrow C. JAMA. 1998;280(18)1604-1609)

The power of Saw Palmetto lies in its oil rich berries. The oils contain the active ingredients that make the herb so effective in the treatment of BPH. They reduce the sensitivity of prostate cells to the hormone, di-hydrotestosterone (DHT), over-production of which is responsible for increasing the size of the prostate gland. The oil also helps to reduce swelling and inflammation so relieving pressure on the bladder. It takes the oil from four berries to make just one 320mg capsule.

A. Vogel Prostasan Saw Palmetto capsules cost £12.79 for 30 one a day capsules. See http://www.naturalhealthwelwyn.co.uk/store/product/37595/A-Vogel-Prostasan-30-capsules/

Learn About Biochemic Tissue Salts

Rose Todd is a trained homoeopath with 15 years’ experience and has been a Bach Flower Practitioner for over 20 years. She has recently taken a course in the Biochemic Tissues Salts, which is accredited by the German Association of Biochemistry.

The 12 Tissue Salts are the building blocks of the body and a deficiency in one or more of these salts means that the body cannot function properly and therefore leads to illness.

It is Rose’s desire to show how simple it is to regain health with the use of these wonderful salts. The Bach Flower Remedies work remarkably well with the Biochemic Tissue Salts.

Rose will be in store (WGC only) on Wednesdays starting 10th September from 10am – 4pm for the next 6 weeks, to give free advice on which salts will help you help yourself.

Health Hint : Ferrum Phos and Kali Mur are the two most important remedies for children and can be used as a first line of defence even if you are not sure of the ailment. Sound interesting? Then why not come in next Wednesday and talk to Rose about it?!
